Have you ever felt like you were doing grief wrong?

Are you navigating the raw, real parts of life after pregnancy or infant loss, feeling misunderstood and alone?

Bianca Johnson The person behind the work

Pregnancy loss coach, South Africa

I'm Bianca Johnson, a pregnancy loss coach, author, and speaker based in the KZN Midlands, South Africa.

I know what it feels like to start over. To pivot when you didn't choose to. To redefine what success even means when your life looks nothing like you planned. I've navigated pregnancy loss, motherhood, career changes, and entrepreneurship, and every one of those experiences shaped the work I do today.

My work centres on grief, particularly pregnancy loss. I've been through 8 pregnancies and 6 losses, and I wrote the book I wished had existed when I was in the thick of it. All of These Lines: My Story of Pregnancy, Loss and Hope was published in October 2025.

I'm also the founder of Rainbow Hope South Africa and the creator of the Baby Bryce Foundation. I coach loss parents through the specific, complicated grief that pregnancy loss leaves behind, helping them find the confidence and support to move forward on their own terms, and build lives that feel aligned, purposeful, and genuinely theirs.

Who I Help

I meet you exactly where you are. No assumptions, no prescribed timeline, no one telling you how to grieve.

Maybe your loss happened last year. Maybe it happened fifteen years ago and you went straight back to work because that's what you do, because the meeting couldn't wait, because someone had to carry on. Grief that gets postponed doesn't disappear, it waits. If you're only now finding space to feel what you didn't let yourself feel at the time, you're not behind. You're exactly on time.

This is a space for loss parents at any distance from their loss, including the ones who've spent years being the strong one.

A Taste of my Story

My path has been anything but straight. Here's a taste of what's shaped it.

  • Loss & Resilience

  • Motherhood Magic (and Mayhem)

  • Backstage Brilliance:

  • Hospitality Heart

  • Business Building

Six losses from eight pregnancies cracked me open. I trained in supporting people through grief and loss, and that experience ignited a passion for creating spaces for healing and hope that I didn't know I was capable of until I needed it myself.

Parenting after loss comes with anxiety I didn't ask for and joy I didn't know I'd get to have. It's given me a unique perspective on juggling priorities, embracing imperfection, and finding joy in the everyday, even when the everyday is complicated.

Years in theatre honed my skills in organisation, problem-solving, and bringing creative visions to life. I learned how to hold space for other people's big moments and stay calm when everything is falling apart backstage.

The service industry taught me the importance of genuine connection and creating experiences that truly matter. How to read a room. How to make someone feel genuinely seen, even on hard days.

From recipe hampers to virtual assistance to coaching, I've learned how to build a business that aligns with your values, and what it actually takes to keep going when things don't go to plan.

My First Book All of These Lines: My Story of Pregnancy, Loss and Hope

In All of These Lines, Bianca Johnson shares her deeply personal journey through six pregnancy losses from eight pregnancies, from the devastation of her first termination at 21 to the joy and terror of carrying two living children, and the heartbreaking decision to end her final wanted pregnancy. This isn't a book of prescriptive advice or platitudes. It's an honest, unflinching companion for the messy, non-linear path of grief and healing that so many walk in silence.

The Values I Actually Live By

My work is guided by a few key principles:

Empowerment

I hand you the confidence to trust yourself again, not a five-step plan to get there.

Connection

None of us is meant to carry this alone. I build spaces where you don't have to.

Integrity

Kindness first, always. It's not a strategy, it's just how I try to move through the world.

What I Believe

Grief doesn't run on a timeline. You don't get over it and you don't ignore it, you grow around it. And old grief doesn't stay old. Life has a habit of digging up losses you never actually processed the first time round, sometimes years later, sometimes when you least expect it. That's not you doing it wrong. That's just how it works.

All pregnancy loss deserves a place to grieve, whatever the circumstances. Whether the loss was early or late, whether a choice was involved or not, grief doesn't check credentials before it shows up. Everyone did the best they could with what they knew at the time, and as more comes to light, feelings get to change and be processed too.

That space belongs to everyone. Gender, sexuality, race, culture, none of it changes who's entitled to grieve a pregnancy loss. I lead with kindness first, always, and I trust lived experience over letters after a name every single time. If I had to boil down every religion I've ever encountered into one line, it'd be this: don't be a dick, to people, to the planet, to whatever you believe is bigger than both.

What I Refuse to Do

I won't tell you how to grieve, and I won't let anyone tell me how either. Nobody gets to hand you a script for this.

I refuse to stay quiet on the topics everyone else tiptoes around, to protect my own ego or to fit neatly into somebody else's box. If a subject is taboo, that's usually a sign I need to talk about it, not avoid it.

I don't dictate what you should believe, and I don't take kindly to anyone dictating theirs to me either, religious, political, or otherwise. I won't align myself with any agenda that lifts one group up by putting another down, and I won't take part in ceremony or organised anything that asks me to switch off what I actually believe to fit in.

The World I'm Working Toward

I want a world where grief gets to exist alongside everything else life demands of you. Where the person advocating for themselves in a hospital corridor and the one who buried a loss under a decade of deadlines both get to be seen, not just the ones with a diagnosis that fits neatly on a form.

There's a place for you here, wherever you are on your journey. Navigate is where you start making sense of what you're feeling, in your own time. Transform is where you do the work of thinking it through, out loud, with support. Thrive is where you rebuild, properly, with someone beside you who gets it.

This isn't bound by geography, and it won't always be bound by pregnancy loss alone. Grief and life's hardest transitions show up everywhere, in any country, at any kind of loss or crossroads. That's who I'm here for now, and who I'll be here for as this grows.

Who I Am Outside the Work

I'm an elder mom who chose a country life for our family after years in cities, and I don't miss the traffic. There's something about wide open space and a wildflower garden that just settles me, even if I'm mostly there to admire it, not weed it.

Travelling is where I'm happiest, whether that's round a campfire or wandering the streets of somewhere new. When I'm not travelling, I'm usually being sat on by one of our six cats, deep into a reality competition show, or in the kitchen showing love through food. Don't ask me to bake though, that's my husband's department, I don't have the patience to take exactly 5g of flour out of the bowl.

Weekends mean the farmers' market, a drink with friends at one of our many local spots, and a trip to the beach to see my parents.

Let's have Coffee

So now you know a little more about me. If something on this page resonated, I'd love to meet you where you are. A Coffee Chat is a free, no-pressure conversation where we can talk about what you're carrying and figure out together whether working with me makes sense.

No agenda. No sales pitch. Just two people talking.
